2021 CSA Farmshare NEWS and SIGN UP INFO
2021 farm season is coming quickly, even though it is only mid-January. Really. I am deep in the planning now for everything to come next season. You can put down a deposit or pay in full for your 2021 CSA Farmshare here.
What’s the BIG NEWS IN 2021?
I’m super excited to announce we will continue the weekly box of mixed veggies next summer in the CSA Farmshare! Additionally, we are adding more greenhouse space, which allows a greater diversity early and late season, as well as more hot weather favorites like tomatoes, basil, cucumbers, and peppers!
Wait, it gets better! We are continuing to offer a pastured meats CSA option from our friends at Bent Gate Farms! Yes, you can get a meat share AND a vegetable share for a more complete local diet!
AND Kingston/Poulsbo pick up locations will be available again this season for VEGGIES AND MEAT!
How does that work you ask?
Here are the basic details. Veggies you pick up every week, on Wednesday. Meat pick up happens three dates during the season, each one after a slaughter. Pick up locations include at Chi’s Farm in Sequim, a pick up point in Port Angeles, and pick up points in Kingston and Poulsbo.
During the main season, CHI’S FARM provides a total of 20 weeks of produce, from early June to late October. We offer two sizes of shares. Full share members receive a one pound bag of salad mix and usually 4 or 5 additional vegetables. Half share members receive a half pound bag of salad mix and usually 3 additional vegetables. The contents of our salad mix will vary with the season, with a foundation of fabulous baby lettuces combined with lots color and texture added from other complimentary greens. The other vegetables will also vary, but mostly are the more well known, popular items (sorry, no sunchokes or kohlrabi). Put your deposit down or pay in full now!
Additionally, we will have a 6 week spring season that is mostly salad mix, with a couple of other early season items each week.
The plan for next season will look similar to the one last year, which is to say we will continue to expand upon the awesome salad mix we grew last year, as well as including a mix of favorite, “common” vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, broccoli, zucchini, etc. We try to mix it up, but also keep the most often requested items regularly appearing when they are in season. So, if you want to be sure you can get first dibs on those amazing greens and other delicious vegetables, you should put your deposit down for the summer CSA. Soon. Everybody who ate them last season loved them, and I’m worried there will be a huge rush to get them this season and I might run out. Put down your $100 deposit or pay in full now, or email firstname.lastname@example.org for additional questions.
Veggies for sale a la carte at the farm stand!!! Yes, it is true! You are able to stop in at the farm stand and see what we have for sale that we are harvesting fresh at that time of the year. If you crave more diversity, or like some the less “common” vegetables, the farmstand is for you! 142 Towne Road. Open every day, 24 hours a day, honor system payment.
You can also find our salad greens at Country Aire Natural Foods in Port Angeles, and a few local establishments. I’ll write more about that soon as I confirm who is on the list for the season. Covid-19 has slowed down some of them, but most are still using our greens when available.
